¡Hola a todos!
The last day or so has been filled with a lot of learning about the Guatemalan Civil War. The movie we watched the other night was about a particular village called Las Cruces and described a similarly horrifying account to the This American Life episode, "What Happened at Dos Erres." I recommend both.
We have been going to yoga daily and canceling it out with daily tamales, chocofrutas, and platanos (plantains). Tomrorow, Mariah and I are going to the local clinic for an orientation to see what kind of work we can do there while we're here. This weekend, we have a couple of relatively local hikes planned - one to a crater lake and the other to a volcano!
Here are some more pictures from my walk to school and from Celas Maya
xoxo,
Rachel
